Developing life skills training for residents

Many registered providers are looking at how they can assist tenants with the skills required to sustain tenancies, particularly those who are housed in supported housing.

Developing life skills courses can offer real opportunities to tenants to improve employment prospectsand social networks. Setting up courses and teaching life skills for tenants can also promote social and financial inclusion.

What participants will learn:

  • Understanding the key life skills needed to sustain tenancies
  • How to develop programmes that can support tenants
  • How to deliver basic life skills training sessions
  • How people learn, and the need to deliver courses that engage people
  • Developing local partnerships with other agencies to deliver life skills training
  • To assess clients needs in relation to life skills
  • Promoting life skills training.

Who should attend?

The course is aimed at all staff who are interested in developing life skills training to tenants in supported housing or general needs accommodation. The course is also for staff that work in a support role with clients who would benefit from life skills training.
