Adventures in instinct
Many emotions, such as fear, anger, surprise, disgust, happiness and sadness are instincts – we don’t need to be taught to feel them. This session takes you on an adventure through such instincts and in doing so teaches you to manage and cope with instinctive emotional reactions so that you control them – not the other way around.
What will participants learn?
- How to manage your emotions at work
- How to avoid emotional ‘leakage’
- Social acting techniques to help you to conform to display rules that dictate which emotions we are permitted to display in the workplace
- How to stop the ‘emotional hijacks’ that stop you reacting rationally
- Techniques to help you manage emotions in order to meet expectations of the job role
- Strategies to cope with the stress that suppressing emotions can bring.
Who is the course for?
Everyone who has to regularly control their emotions at work. This is particularly useful for all those in a customer-facing role.
