Understanding HQIs
This one-day course gives an introduction and awareness of the HQIs which are being used for recent and present funding rounds. The course also outlines the overlap with sustainability standards.
Housing Quality Indicators (HQIs) are the Homes and Communities Agency’s (HCA’s) method of assessing the quality of homes. Issues such as room sizes and facilities are included, but they also include some difficult-to-measure issues such as local built environment. As well as providing an indication of housing quality, HQIs are required for all HCA-funded new build and are also needed to draw down funding from the 2008-2011 National Affordable Housing Programme funding round.
This course is recognised through the Homes and Communities Agency recognition scheme. It is deemed to meet the highly sought-after requirements of the scheme by ‘assisting sustainable community professionals to work better, improve their skills and knowledge and share best practice’.
You will cover:

- An overview of indicators
- Room matrix and furniture layouts
